Boating/Swimming
Almost 13,000 acres of clear waters, providing for a wide variety of boating activities that covers sailing, scuba diving, water skiing, wakeboarding, innertubing, and jet skiing, with 10 Marinas which Four of the Marinas: Pine Cove, Barnacle Bill’s, Burnt Cabin and Sixshooter serve as floating restaurants that allow casual dress straight from the lake. Several marinas rent pontoons, ski boats and wave runners. All lake swimming areas are protected from boats with safety buoy markers. Lake Tenkiller offers 24 boat launching ramps, 10 Marinas, 14 Parks and 130 miles of scenic shoreline.

Camping With almost 1,400 acres for camping and 14 parks, it’s a camper’s paradise. Most camping grounds are patrolled twenty four hours a day by the State Park Rangers, Oklahoma Scenic Rivers Commission Rangers and the Corps of Engineers. Most parks have boat ramps, restrooms equipped with showers, picnic shelters and tables, swimming areas, playgrounds and grills. Handicap accessible sites are also available. |
Fishing
Lake Tenkiller is a popular lake for fishing tournaments. Year-Round fishing includes, but is not limited to, bass, crappie, catfish, walleye and trout. The trout fishery on the Illinois River above the lake attracts many visitors. Three heated fishing docks offer winter fun for crappie fishing.
Hunting
Tenkiller is ranked 2nd in Oklahoma for the number of deer taken during deer season, with approximately 80,000 acres of land for public hunting. Project lands are open for public hunting, except for developed recreational areas and lands in the vicinity of the dam. Approximately 2,590 acres of project land are licensed to the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife conservation for a State Game Management Area. Additional attractions are the Gruber Public Hunting Area and the Cherokee Game Refuge on old Camp Gruber near the western shore of the lake.
